Aww that's a shame. You should have just had them delivered to him on the sly with a little note on the boxes saying "From your secret admirer xx" , then denied all knowledge of it.

not a good idea, because he will be too busy and go around calling girls he know and accusing them of being the secret admirer.

and will have his heart broken and then he will not moral and motiviation to code fixes for us :)

Iam not thinking of this as an investment in the future but more of a thanks for the things he has done in the past.
