Didn't even realise you put it up. D:

Question though, do you use CEP?

edit: What version is the server running? :S

Version is listed on the first post. v1.68

There are downgrade instructions on Bioware's website.

If running 1.68 was for my benefit, but everyone else has patch 1.69 working, it would probably make sense to bump the server up to the new version (y'know, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of..."). I can have another go at 1.69--maybe the 4th time is the charm. ;)

Any word yet regarding my team damage question in the other thread?

1.68 was chosen as it has a 98% success rate, compared to the 1.69 with a huge failure rate. Also what question of team damage? I never could find it.

sucks...

It looks like I've gone and corrupted my server character for NWN real good. Every time I log in, as soon as I load the gameworld my display goes nuts--as if my video card is dying (textures gone, smeared text, etc.). Local NWN characters load fine, other games load fine, driver is current, DXdiag tests OK. Only happens with the server character, and if I don't end-task the process quickly I get an nv4_disp driver error.

Sooooo...does the server maintain character backups, or am I just screwed with a capital 'F'?

Didn't by any chance change/update the video drivers recently?

Did update my video driver after the problem occurred--no change. When I was playing the other night, the game got real sluggish after an area change (specifically, I ran out of a building and an enemy followed me). I continued to play for 5-10 minutes, but then gave up and exited. The first time I tried playing on the server again is when the problem started. I've also tried a critical rebuild of NWN--no change.

In a nice bit of irony, this is one of the prime reasons why, until now, I've never played an MP game that required server-side character storage. I never liked the idea of my game data being out of my control. Fortunately this is only a level-4 character...I can't imagine how it would feel to lose something that took dozens or hundreds of hours of gameplay to build. :(

Generally, any MMO would have some pretty tight security around the characters you build (you're paying to play, usually). That's not counting someone hacking your account or something, but I digress.

Regardless of the version of your server, I don't see it anywhere.

I've never seen an online game where your char. wasn't server-side, otherwise the cheating would be too easy.

I mentionned the video drivers because ever since the nvidia versions passed 1.75 or so, I've had random occurences of 'texture frenzy' where everything goes stretchy, like a major overclock gone bad or overheat, only that's not the case because there's no overclocking and heat is low enough that I feel cool air out the case and even opening it wide doesn't help.
