This is the solution I have used to get widescreen + correct FOV in fifa 07

1. Hex edit the fifa07.exe file as per the instructions contained in the wiki for Fifa World Cup. Those instructions give you widescreen resolution

2. Next hex edit the A.Profile file. This is found in
C:Documents and Settings****My DocumentsFIFA 07A. Profiles
Replace the widescreen =0 entry with widescreen=1

MOD EDIT : Please use thumbnails with links to display screenshots.
Use this code ...

Code:
<a href="http://Link to large image">Link to thubmnail image</a>

This gave me the following screen shots

When this gets added to the wiki, perhaps my first step above can be replaced with the actual instructions contained in the Fifa World Cup wiki.

Also, step 2 can probably be achieved using notepad I think. If in doubt, hexedit.

Thanks for the solution!

Can you try taking another pair of screenshots? The ones in your post are taken at different camera angles. You can tell by looking at the white line in the grass that points down-right at the bottom of the screen. It's much closer to 45 degrees in the 4:3 shot.

I took two new screenies. This time BOTH are 1680x1050. But only the one named widescreen has the correct FOV. Access the screenshots from my original post.

The pic with the crappy FOV is with widescreen=0. The correct FOV is with widescreen=1. Both are taken with the corrected widescreen resolution.

Based on those screenshots, it seems like setting widescreen to 1 sets the FOV to an intended aspect ratio of 16:9. Which isn't very surprising - that often happens when widescreen isn't automatically calculated from the resolution, but determined with an off/on switch.

I see you added it to the wiki. Thanks mate.
