Greetings all. Longtime lurker, first time poster.

I'm a huge fan of the whole Battlefield series. I absolutely love playing BF2. That was, until I purchased a 24" Acer widescreen. Now, I do understand that there is a command line hack to stretch the resolution. But seriously, it's 2006 and EA/Dice are just completely ignoring the fastest growing segment of the gaming market.
What really cheeses me off is that EA demoed BF2142 at E3 on widesreen monitors, but is not supporting it for the released game.
After reading the FOV hack thread, and the punkbuster issues, I feel there is only one solution to this dilemma: A boycott.
In my experience, dollars speak louder than words. Programming WS & FOV support into the new game would be no big deal, yet we're completely ignored.
With that being said, I've started an online petition, urging gamers to withold thier cash until this issue is resolved.

You can view & sign the petition at:

Thanks very much,
Glenn "Oz" Fricker

It's going to be a sucky game anyway. Just let it die quietly and quickly.

As good an idea as it is, online petitions amount to pretty much less than 0.

Anyway, I didn't plan on buying it. Why pay another $60 for what is essentially a mod to BF2.

I agree, actually i think this game should be free just like some other companys do with their inhouse build "mods" of their blockbuster games.

I'm in the same boat. I absolutley love playing BF2, but I have an Acer AL2423W 24" and I have to run it in 1600x1200 stretched, or widescreen with stretched HUD and less vertical viewing area. That urks the crap outta me!

I think BF2142 wil be a good game; one thing you need to realize is that there are many great games created without making a new game engine for it's release (Joint Ops: Typhoon Rising is a GREAT game, made with the Black Hawk engine from 2003). BUT, not coding widescreen support like you said is rediculous.

I will sign the petition and boycott BF2142, not because it's bad... but soley because there is no widescreen support. I wish i knew wchich ignorant S.O.B is keeping the game in 4:3. Seriously, it's 2006!
