Hey guys!

Never tried triple-head gaming, but I'd like to get into it. Looking at getting the new ASUS 27" G-Sync monitor. I want to stick with Nvidia since I'm using 3D Vision. So is the Nvidia Surround worth it? Obviously the cost of 3x GPUs and 3x monitors is not peanuts. Would probably get at least 2 monitors anyway for programming and what not, but just trying to get some feedback here.

So is it worth it?

The best way to answer your question is to try it out for yourself. Is there any way you can do that (e.g. store with such a setup)? Also G-Sync doesn't work in Surround yet.

Also the idea of 3x GPU is inefficient. Most games dont have support for 3GPUs SLI with 2 is more commonly used.
So 2x 780ti is to prefer over 3x 770

Gaming is amazing on triple setups. The immersion is one step before VR. I am still in awe of games like Dirt 3/Showdown, Serious Sam 3, and other "out-of-the-box" multi-mon experiences.

Work-wise, I have never been more efficient. I'll have multiple documents that are related to the ones I am working on, decreasing the amount of times I have to alt-tab. It is hard to work of setups without multi-mon now.

On a side note, cybereality, as in the Oculus Community Manager cybereality?

ASUS RoG Implies that G-Sync does work in Surround:

How do I setup Surround Gaming [for 3x PG278Q in triple monitor setup]?
“My graphics card only has 1 DP: can I convert DVI/HDMI to DP?”

A: Currently to enable surround [triple monitor] G-Sync you will need 3 GPUs in triple SLI configuration.

I don't use Surround right now (TH2G) but was looking into it in the near future. Is there a chance that support of G-Sync in Surround is only specific to some products (such as the new Swift monitor)?

Curious if anyone knows.

Yes, I am the Oculus cybereality. Love VR, but I'd like to experience everything else that's out there.

I have NVidia surround and I think it's worth it. I run only 2 GPU setups, 3 just doesnt seem worth the price/performance ratio in my opinion.

I do recommend getting a SB-E/IB-E (or a Maxwell-E if you can afford it) for the 2x 16x PCI-E slots. For single cards it doesnt matter, but you'll find for multi-mon/gpu setups it does plan a large factor in performance.

NVidia drivers seem to be a little bit more fleshed out and stable, but AMD is really good too.

The last time I did some research this wasn't the case. Can you post a source or your own findings?

I run an Nvidia Surround setup off a single 670 and I love it. It's the most immersive improvement you can make. There are few games that I can't run in triple-screen off a single card.

After trying my triple-screen setup, my wife and two friends all adopted multi-monitor systems.

If you're going to get three monitors anyway - and you should, even just for productivity - try Surround with a single card. If you like it and want more graphics power, you could add another then.
