I'm Freak-DS, there is a slight chance that some people of you might know me, I'm a german modeler from the NFS High Stakes scene, releasing cars under my name and the label "Team RSR". :)
As I mentioned NFS HS, this is the main reason for me registering here. I've been creeping around and reading things here for quite a while, thankfully also often found good solutions for other games (uniws is a quite very nice patch), but there still is no patch for high stakes.

There is a tool called "nGlide", an alternative GlideWrapper to Zechensack's, which supports widescreen resolutions, but a) it's extremely laggy on 64 bit Systems (I'm on win7 64) and the aspect ratio is incorrect. I can get full HD, 16:9 aspect, as output resolution, but the wrong aspect ratio of the rendered things really kills all the fun.

NFS 4 is 12 years old, there are quite some patches to get it to run on newer graphics cards, but widescreen support still wasnt enabled. It uses DX8. So.. does anybody know a solution for this?

Thanks for the welcome! :)

I just tested nGlide 0.96, the aspect ratio is okay now but the widescreen resolution doesnt bring the desired effect.

These screenshots are from my laptop where I tested it (I'm not at home this weekend so no big widescreen), but the res here is 1280 x 800.

nGlide with 1280 x 800, sync aspect ratio to screen option:

same but with 4:3 aspect ratio:

My point is, appart from that nGlide causes weird overlay problems on the light texture on the ground, that this is not the desired effect. What I mean with widescreen actually is a full image, not squeezed and without black bars. Is this possible at all?

I'm afraid this is technically not possible. Not without game source code.

Ah.. I was afraid so. Unfortunately, there is no way to get the source.. thanks though!
