Post subject:  Hallo

Hello. I go by "Stolid" in games and on forums and such. I used to have a single 24" and a 20" secondary (sadly at the now non-ubiquitous resolution of 1400x1050), but I dumped it (given to a relative) for a 3x19" Christmas present setup. Still waiting on the displayport adapter sadly.

My setup:
Intel E5200 @ 3.6Ghz (stock 2.5Ghz) with an AC Freezer 7 Pro cooler
Gigabyte EP45-UD3L
6GB RAM
XFX Radeon HD5770
Antec 550W PSU

3x19" Acer V193w (1440x900 each) and an old 17" NEC LCD (planning to plug that into an old PCI card)

I'm thinking about trying to squeeze more out of my processor, not sure if that'll work.

I'd love to overclock my 5770, but I haven't had much luck with that. CCC likes to be inconsistent about what it considers stable or not, and sometimes it's condemning some pretty minor OCs. Not sure about that... Some of the 3rd party utilities seem to mess with the 2d clocks as well, so that's kind of annoying.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this place. I've already asked some (link1 link2) questions in another couple threads. I can't wait to get my DP adapter and experience the awesomeness of immersion and such (playing mostly Source games and BC2).

I welcome any thoughts or suggestions for improving my setup.

Yes, that is a bag of cookies in the far left corner, and yes, that is a super old hard drive platter decorating the wall. :D

I had an E5300 up at 3.9GHz for months at stock volts...

As for improvements? More HDD platters on the wall?

Nice. I'm not running stock volts sadly, but there's room for me to raise them more. Having this processor has really inspired me as far as how I build computers. I'm going to continue buying cheap processors and overclocking them.

As for the platters, I have a couple more around here, so maybe I will. :D

Thanks. I just received my DP->VGA adapter today, and my experiences so far have been pretty amazing. It's kind of disorienting at first.

I'll second that. ;) But at least it doesn't give me epic-level migraines the way old 3D tech did - not tried the latest '3D Vision' from nVidia, so don't know how that one would do.
