My display is 2560x1080 I did a search with 8E E3 18 40 but the hex key wasn't found. What am I doing wrong?
The guide can be confusing. Replace every instance of 39 8E E3 3F with 26 B4 17 40.
8E E3 18 40 is 3440x1440 and isn't something to search for.
In the version from CODEX it does not work ...
