Hayden has released a plugin to remove the letter-boxing in the cutscenes. Sadly it doesn't work for me (letter-boxing is still there when the fix is enabled). I am running the game at 2560x1080.

Yup it doesn't work for me either and I also run it at that resolution. Today some modder(s) cracked ...

you see the 21:9 go back to 16:9 and you lose 20 - 40 % off your screen

on a 21:9 screen, i'm getting 2 black bars in cinematics
