Yes it is distorted... 16:9 stretched to 21:9. The OSD setting is a '1:1 / fullscreen' scaling toggle. It changes the picture's proportions, not the actual resolution or FOV.
I'm fully aware that it needs to stretch the image and this probably wouldn't look good with most games. I'm not trying ...

Need help picking a 21:9 monitor
So I was looking at getting a 21:9 widescreen monitor but the current resolution is not supported for Starcraft 2 (which makes sense), however I came across this video m[1] and if you can wait until about 1:50 you can see he hits some buttons on his monitor and then it scales the game to that ratio ...
