here is how I got this to work.
1. Install Age of Empires II: Age of Kings and Age of Empires II: The Conquerors.
2. Then go to http://www.voobly.com/pages/view/175/Game-Patches#Age_of_Empires_II_The_Conquerors_Expansion Then download Patch - 1.0e.
*The 1.0c patch would not work for me ...
