Ive had a similar problem with my Diamond 7970s. I insalled the 2nd one, ran BF3, no issues. Quit the game to do something else and when i played again, whammo- ultra low fps. Afterburner OSD showed low 3D clocks while in game as well.

Got it with my 7970 i just ordered. Its a voucher (not sure how its going to work yet) for Deus Ex, the new Dirt game, and some HALO ripoff that Steam sells for 10 bucks.

Got an AMD 7970 after talking with a bud who loved it and played the same games as me.....we'll see how it goes.

I use a shader-unlocked 6950 2gb and run BF3 at 5292x1050 (bezel-compensated 3x 1680x1050)...Most settings at Medium. Since I'm running in a lower-than-native resolution, the medium texture setting looks the same as Ultra. .
