Apparently I was editing the wrong SkyrimPrefs.ini -
I was editing -> D:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonskyrimSkyrim

Just got skyrim on steam - downloaded 0.91 of HaYDeN's widescreen fix.
Running the suggested GeForce 290.53 Drivers.
Clean skyrim steam download, nothing else changed, no UI mods installed yet.

The starting intro (as I go into the game, being carted along) looks like this, Left / Right ...
