Well someone has advised me as to the main issue with TF2, that being an option in the mulitplayer menu that came with a recent update that allows you to view the cart from anywhere on the map, I've turned this off and gone from 14-15FPS to 160FPS average(this Xfire bug has been reported to Valve ...
