At 1920x1200 you still get a performance penalty even though the screen is at 1080. If you go to 1080 the frame rates are better.

It is my opinion that you are mistaken, when compared to 16:9 that is not 16:10. With 16:10 you should see more from the top and bottom of the screen. It shouldn't be the same as 16:9. Look at the example below:
