FWIW I also started to get this happening with my setup occasionally and I am using a DisplayAdaptor -> VGA adaptor.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was hoping to do. I already have a DVI-to-VGA connector, and have just ordered a DP-to-VGA one from Ebay as I'min the UK and that seems the cheapest place.
The Ebay one has a similar spec as the one TexasTango ordered. Odd that the 19" screen connection didnt work ...

If you don't mind running one of your screens in VGA, the DP to VGA adapters are considerably cheaper than the active DP to Dual Link DVI. $35-40 or so, IIRC.

To alleviate this dont use SLS for your desktop stuff only for games, instead use a extended desktop. Disable all but one monitor in your ATI control panel and then when you re-enable a monitor that you disabled you will see the option of "clone" or "extend" use the extend option.
