UPDate: i TRIED THE MATROX Powerdesk and it seems to do most of what I need, just set 3 columns (1.1 1.2 1.3), then set maximise windows to "in same cell as current window", very happy :)
hope this helps someone else out frustrated by the 5760x1080 mode (who new matrox and nvidia would playnice ...

Short:
Will (1680x1050) RGB monitors (with a DVI adapters) work on a TH2G digital at 5040x1050 properly ( i don't mind hitting the auto adjust buttons)
