Re: Anachronox widescreen? Why no talk of this game?
Awesome. How did you solve the stretching HUD/interface problem? Also, do you have a 2560x1600 exe for me to test?

Re: Anachronox widescreen? Why no talk of this game?
So the game just got released on Steam... Any luck? I would like to play this on a widescreen, with proper HUD mods. I hope the game is popular enough for someone to mod widescreen interfaces in, like KOTOR1.

Cold Fear widescreen fix doesn't work
I followed the guide here; http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.ph ... r&start=10
I downloaded the Steam version of Cold Fear, replaced the exe with the official unprotected exe, ran the tool, nothing. The resolution is stuck at 640x480. The tool just doesn't seem to work.
Help?

Re: Colour profiles in games. The new "widescreen" controversy.
Also, the most annoying game for me right now is Dragon Age. I want to play it and complete it, but I can't seem to get custom colours to stick with this game. Color Clutch doesn't work, neither does MCW.
The only workaround is to launch the game in windows and run ShiftWindows on it. But I ...

Re: Colour profiles in games. The new "widescreen" controversy.
I have also contacted Mike, author of Monitor Calibration Wizard. http://www.hex2bit.com/products/index.asp
MCW works for a number of games, but it is still a "soft" option, and the game is still able to "hard lock" back to the default uncalibrated colours once the game goes fullscreen. However ...

Re: Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords
Is there an easier way to change the game to use 2560x1600?
I found a binary registry call under the registry under current_user/software/infinite interactive/puzzle quest/resolution
Right now the file just says "11 00 00 00", and apparently it's 1920x1200.

Re: Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords
Sorry for the necropost, but I am wondering if anyone figured out a way to get the game to run at 2560x1600. It natively supports up to 1920x1200 but not 2560x1600. Lazy developers.

I'm pretty sure its DirectX related, and happens on all versions of Windows, XP, Vista, W7, etc.

Best "ever" or the "current best"? If the former, I am tempted to say either the UT99 engine or the Q3 engine.
Currently, my vote goes to Source.

Re: Colour profiles in games. The new "widescreen" controversy.
Thanks for the great explanation.
From the looks of it, it looks like the single point of failure lies in with whomever the developers are. Which I suppose can be taken as good news, and it looks like the problem isn't a terribly difficult thing to "fix". If what Ian speculates turns out to be ...

I'm not sure if it's most, but there are plenty of PC gamers with hardware calibrators out there!

Re: Colour profiles in games. The new "widescreen" controversy.
You can't calibrate the three monitors individually and load up those individual profiles on each of the monitors? It seems quite an elementary thing for Windows (or another program like Powerstrip) to load up separate colour profiles on different monitors.

Re: Colour profiles in games. The new "widescreen" controversy.
If you can, borrow a calibrator and calibrate your monitor's colours. Games and the desktop environment in general look much better. YMMV of course, but the default colorus on my monitor are very washed out, making everything look like crap. Calibrated colours are an absolute need for me ...

Re: Colour profiles in games. The new "widescreen" controversy.
I think it would be safer to say that at most 10% of those with colour calibration hardware for their monitors also game on the same system.

[quote]I'm for it - problem is, when 90% of gamers use 6-bit Twisted Nematic panels (which give poor colours to begin with) and don't even realise the problem as long as the game "works"... I worry that you're fighting a losing battle.
