Hello miniduke,
The Steam executable must have different memory addresses related to the FOV values. That function in the tool forcibly overwrites specific values in memory so I'm not surprised that it causes an insta-crash. Sorry, but I don't have the Steam version of the game so there is no way ...

Re: need help fixing black bars
Hello jazz. I'm not sure which fix you tried, but generally the best option is to post on the original thread of that particular tool. Hopefully the author will see your report and might be able to assist.

Re: Capsized Resolution Patcher
Hello b0n3z,
When you run the tool and it detects the game's exe properly, the Current Resolution line in the gui should show some valid numbers (default of 1440x900) that you can then patch with the New Res fields. Are you using the Steam version of the game? Versions from other vendors are likely ...

I play Minecraft @ 3840x1024. Works very well. Game natively supports the resolution, HUD is centered, and FOV is customizable in the options menu.

Re: Bioshock Remastered Ultrawide Fix
Considering the original game launched with famously botched widescreen support, it is a little sad to see that the remaster still can't get things correct on day one.

Welcome to the site.

Re: Rainbow 6 Vegas Eyefinity
I was considering it. I run PLP these days at 5198x1440. I haven't delved into editing for a while, but I'm sure I can slap oen together. OF course if you wanted to the legwork, I wouldn't say no... but I'm certainly capable. But i guess it'd be good to refresh my memory on such things.

@tricky
Glad to see these are still proving useful.
@Abram
There is a dead link in the second post of this thread that might be what you used before. Do you need to create a new hack? Happy to help if I can.

Re: Basic Hex Helper Information
Hello Strata,
The FOV Tool link still works for me:
http://www.wsgf.org/fovcalc.php
Regarding hex editing, the locations to change in an executable will be different with every game. Did you have any particular games in mind, or are you looking for more general instructions?

Hi-Rez Studios releases legacy Tribes games for free
Ran across this today via reddit:
http://www.tribesuniverse.com/ (Downloads are refreshingly strings-free. )
I have many fond memories of Tribes 2. Definitely need to put this into the family gaming rotation in the next year or two.
Nice job Hi-Rez.

Poking around in FinalBig... Apparently the settings you're looking for are the Microphone parameters in data\ini\audiosettings.ini
For instance I see these values in THEmod.big compared to the original ini.big:

Re: Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Hi Marc05,
It shouldn't take long to add 21:9 and post a new version. I'll dig up my project and try to post that in a day or two.
Has Vegas 2 received any updates lately? It's a very old game and to my knowledge the tool worked with the last published version of the game.

Re: Magicka 2: No Widescreen Allowed
That is frustrating, although not terribly surprising. The screenshot of Magicka 2 that you posted on the Paradox forum looks like a typical pillar-box rendering solution. It might be fixable via hack, but having developer support is preferable.

Similar situation with some detailed explanation:

It's frustrating and unfortunate, but will likely be an ongoing fact-of-life for any devs or communities who create or host such software. Hopefully HaYDeN won't have to jump through too many hoops for a workaround.

Re: 6 monitor set up & 2 TH2G incompatibility
Given that the latest version of the tool is dated 2014-5-1, and the version previous dated 2012-10-05 , I would agree that you can't consider its results authoritative in terms of evaluating hardware compatibility.
