How do you determine an HDTV's "Best" Resolution?
The cheapest HDTVs that are out there have a native resolution of 1366x768. They can accept 720p or 1080i sources. The TV will just upscale 720p and downscale 1080i to 1366x768.

Should I move to wide screen for gaming?
I definitely recommend going with a widescreen monitor. Besides gaming, You'll be able to watch HD videos the way they were meant to be seen.
