BTW, I have some more info to add regarding this issue.
I have a Samsung 215TW and I enabled the Use Centered Timings setting..
10 minutes later, my monitor died. :(
Luckily I was able to exchange it, but I'd be careful. I can't know for sure if it was that setting itself that killed ...
