could u guys tell me what will be the performance difference between these two machines when playing F.E.A.R in 1440*900 resolution with max settings,will it be minimal or huge ?

system 1: (my current)
P4 HT 2.6Mhz 800mhz
1GB 400Mhz DDR RAM
Intel 865GBF board
6800GT AGP 256MB ...

I'm looking to help someone I know with a new LCD purchase, and am thinking of recommending some widescreen models.

Here's the problem: said person is a gamer, and while the games they like tend to support widescreen (at least the newer ones), I'm not aware of any 16:10 resolutions below ...

Wolf 3D on my 386 w/ 4 megs of Ram. My god I was hooked. I loved Doom also but my best gaming experience that I can remember was VQuake on my Veritas (SP?) 3D board from Sierra. It was running Quake at 640 x 480 x 32 bit at 20 FPS. Nothing would ever be the same!

Thanks for all responses. I do not have alot of money. I work 7 days a week. I own a retail Computer Store. Wholesale on the 30" LCD is $ 1640.00 + Shipping. A good deal when compared to the Apple 30". PC gaming is my passion. I have been gaming for nearly 12 years on the PC!
