Being a long term AMD fanboy in terms of graphics hardware, I personally think that nV really hit the nail on the head with the 600 series. My money would be on a 4GB 670 any day of the week, although the 7950 does offer fairly reasonable value too IMO.

If you want something wider, in 1 screen then I guess the 29" Dell would be a good choice. It is still 1080 lines, but is 2560 pixels across. Another alternative is to go for a "squarer" build with 3 screens in portrait.

Make sure anti-aliasing is turned off, and I seem to remember BF3 being a FPS hog with Ambient Occlusion, try setting that to off, and see if things improve. Also, using Ultra in BF3 puts 4xMSAA on in game, so running at High will increase FPS a lot.

So what you are saying is that since PCI-E 1.0 won't slow down a PCI-E 3.0 card, running it in a PCI-E 2.0 system won't slow it down either.

I was personally interested if you fed the 7950 more bandwidth from the PCI-e slot if you would get more bang for buck than just overclocking the CPU, but seems you don't wanna do that!
