It is certainly dissapointing, I went ahead and changed my .ini file to reflect 1680x1050, while it does indeed work, you lose about an inch on top and the bottom of the screen. Also, 3rd person scenes you end up with a very odd ghosting effect, almost like it's creating two images at the same time ...
