DOOM 3 is Awesome !
you get the occasional cutscene but it isnt really anything more than "im here, thank god youre alive, im staying in this spot while you continue on"
lolol that's so true... of all 4 of the still living NPCs you encounter.
"Oh you startled me. I'll stay here and twiddle with this flux ...

DOOM 3 is Awesome !
I thought the atmosphere was great in the initial stages of the game but after an hour or two it quickly descended into a very repetitive task of room after room mob clearance. You get to a certain point in a room, it triggers a spawn and the mobs appear. A few in front and a few behind you. They ...

Widescreen gaming a few questions hope you can help
I am about to buy an 30" Apple Cinema Display
As far as I know the 30" model is Mac only and needs a particular Mac only edition of the 6800 Ultra card with dual channel DVI output (or something). Apparently high end graphics workstation cards for the PC such as the FireGL *might* work as they ...

Anyone have any luck with Doom 3 yet ?
No idea yet. =(
I ordered from cdromshop.com and it shipped today (Wed). 2 day shipping from them with DHL express to London, U.K. so I should have it Friday and will test things out then. I can't wait until the 13th so I ordered it on import.

Go into Display Properties, Settings, Advanced, Options and uncheck the "Alternative DVI Operational Mode" and your freaky shimmering will be gone.
Same happened to me when I first booted up with it but it's just a simple setting in the options.

Widescreen gaming a few questions hope you can help
Well I took some pics but the only digital camera type thing I have is a Logitech web cam and the resolution was SO bad it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to host them somewhere.
The screen is awesome. No ghosting that I can see even in fast paced FPS like Painkiller and FarCry. The latter ...

Widescreen gaming a few questions hope you can help
Well the power adapter didn't come today (Monday) but Apple assured me it would be arriving tomorrow at the latest. Seems it wasn't just my screen, it was their entire shipment and the adapters arrived late, which was the factories fault, no the warehouse... or something... whatever. It's looking ...

Should also add that the highstreet stores seem to price the 23" display about 50 quid higher than the Apple Store price, which also had free shipping via TNT. Shipping 9:37pm Wednesday night and arrived 10am Friday morning. That's great service considering the factory is actually based in the ...

Well I bought mine direct from the Apple Store UK but I think the retail stores that sell Apple gear will have them in at the "end of the month, beginning of next month". I know Micro Anvika on Tottenham Court Road in London hasn't gotten them in yet to display and were saying early next month.

The NEW Apple 20, 23 and 30 inch LCDs are all 16ms response times. These are the new panels with the brushed aluminium bezel. Check out the tech docs at http://www.apple.com

Well after a few months of lurking I've registered and will join in with the widescreen fun!
Hopefully you should have your 23" Apple by now. Mine arrived in London, U.K. from the Apple Store U.K. this morning. Unfortunately the power adapter is in it's own shipment which is lagging one day ...
