Nothing yet. I could not find an ini or cfg file to edit. I know that the X-box version is widescreen compatible, so I cannot figure out why a PC version would not offer this also.

Doom3 Beta Patch Released: Good News for Widescreen Gamers
The HUD is a 2D overlay, just like every other FPS. I doubt that they'll ever make a HUD that scales with the rest of the screen. One problem would be the GPU time it would chew up for something that remains (relatively) static.

Those shots are overly dark. Have you tried messing with the Gamma in the cfg file? Here is an example of the difference you see using Gamma instead of brightness:

ive made the changes and though it looks widescreen, it has shadowing problems. black paterns all over the place. anyone else having these problems?
Turn off shadows. Radeons have problems doing some shadows, and Doom3 shadows don't look that realistic to begin with.

This game does not do widescreen correctly even with the fix. It just adds to the fish eye look. How hard is it to get right?! Far Cry, Painkiller, and UT2004 got it right.
Oh...you all might also want to change:
seta r_gamma "1" to "1.5" or so.

Too bad Doom 3 does not have true Widescreen support!!!!
How hard would it be to add. When I play at 1280x720 everything is stretched even when I change the FOV....and you are right it is not Far Cry. The graphics are not quite as good, the gameplay is confinded to small areas, and ...

Solution: MOHAA [hor+] [edit] [console]
Go into the MOHAA cfg file and find:
'seta r_customwidth'
'seta r_customheight'
Change these to the height and width you want then find:
'seta r_mode'
Change the zero to '-1' then find:

Also, most Ureal based games have two lines in the ini that have:
WindowedViewportX
WindowedViewportY
This lets you change the windowed resolution. I can't believe that the old game can accept custom resolutions but the new on cannot!...and I hear you cannot even force AA which is why ...

Does it revert to the original default resolution? If so, try making the ini file read only. If not, then you have to edit the resolution elsewhere.

First, I only have the demo of Colin McRae Rally4. That being said, the graphics and 3D EAX surround sound is better on Colin. The handling is a bit better in NFS and it seems more fun because I like being able to mod the car (from paint to parts) so that it really is YOUR car.

Finally found some time last weekend to format my system and reinstall Windows XP.

First do as I mentioned above:
TRY another GAME! This will determine if it is the demo or something else.
Also check your projector to see what resolution it is in. Powerstrip and Windows may read and look like 1280x720 but your projector may read it as 1024x768 and stretch it to fit?! It ...

Here is how I did it.
I used powerstrip to make the 1280x720 using their DVI custom one. When I did this I was able to get 1280x720 at 60Hz and on my projector it was a true 1280x720. Under your advanced settings>display uncheck the setting that say resize to fit screen.

The game and menu both support 1280x720. I have my 1280x720 resolution locked at 60Hz. Do you have any problems running 800x600 or 640x480 just in case it is one of the resolutions that the pre-menu "ad" screen plays at? I used to have a proble displaying menus with other resolutions on my projector ...
