AMD & GameFly made a joint announcement today about a new venture between the companies. Gamers who purchase an AMD APU or CPU will receive a 30 day free trial to the GameFly rental service, and receive a 20% discount on a new PC game from the GameFly PC store.
I'm personally a member of GameFly, and really like their service. Sounds like a great opportunity for more people to get a free chance to get it out.
I've never bought into the Direct2Drive ecosystem - all of my downloadable games come through Steam. So, I wasn't aware that last may IGN had sold the service to GameFly. I have been a member of Gamefly off an on for years, and I recently rejoined when they launched their unlimited PC download option (though I've yet to actually use it). The real news here is that in January, Gamefly will be folding the D2D service fully into Gamefly - accounts will be moved and the website will redirect you.
