According to NVIDIA's Tom Petersen G-Sync in surround should work with the next driver release. In the video below triple ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q are used for such a surround setup. At this moment you also need 3 gpus for 3 display port connection, since G-Sync only works via display port. Possible future fixes for this issue are also discussed (i.e. a hub).

Excellent news, hopefully the 800 series has two DisplayPort instead and or as well as DVI(s). Somehow I think surround 1440p will be a struggle for two way SLI, hope Nvidia prove me wrong. :)

Let's hope Nvidia also decides to support MST.
Even AMD switched back from 2x mDP to 2xDVI and a normal DP.
It's a shame.

I think I understand what Tom Peterson from Nvidia was talking about in the video of my first post. The 980 will have (in all likelihood) have three displayports: source. This way G-Sync in surround is possible with just one card. He talked about the next driver supporting that, so I think he meant the driver that will be released with the launch of the 980 on the 19th of September. What do you guys think?

DP - HDMI - DP - DP and a DVI on top.

i really wonder who made the design decision for that!

now Surround in 4k will be possible! well... was it before with 3x 780ti Card, and thats about the Power you need for such a Setup xD

I think you need more then 3x 780ti's to drive 3 4k displays in surround. At least with these new connection options, we will be able to test that.
