Hey there,

I'm new to Eyefinity and already searched a lot on the internet, but didn't get an answer to my question:
I'm thinking of upgrading my system to Eyefinity.

1.) Is one Radeon HD7850 Card enough for 6 screens (for working purpose like programming and on weekends to play, e.g. some egoshooter like Counterstrike Global Offensiv/ Call of Duty MW3 ...) or is it better to get it running with 2 cards on crossfire mode?

-> If yes, my Motherboard (Asus A88X Plus) has 1x pci-e 3.0 x16 and 1x pci-e 2.0 x16. Already found that it's possible to run such a pci-e 3.0 card in a pci-e 2.0 slot, but how effectiv is it? normally pci-e 2.0 offers enough bandwidth for a single card, but what happens to the crossfire mode?

2.) Looked around for some screens at an effortable price with extra slim borders. The Asus VN247H fits perfectly to these requirements and I already have one with my actual graphic card. The problem there is, that it doesn't have a DP connection. Will it work if I use 6x (active?) adapters Mini-DP to HDMI to connect these screens?

/ Markus

Hi, and
:welcome

1) For Working, sure, gaming? 1080p ? Not so much.... but it should work
1b) PCI-E 2.0 is a limit. But not so much on a 7850
2) should work fine with active Adapters. But you might need 2x Display port MST hubs to get 6 monitors out of a 7850

Thanks for the quick reply :) I think I missed to write I want to buy the Radeon HD7850 Eyefinity Version.

So I better run 2 cards in crossfire mode?

With the eyefinity version I already have enough ports, so I can use each port with an own adapter?

Oh the 6 miniDP and 2GB version ? Should work with normal *active* Mini DP to HDMI adapters.

Yeah, with 2Gb VRAM you might have a chance in Eyefinity.

Why not just try it out with one card. If you don't have enough performance you can buy a second card afterwards.

Ok I'll give it a try with one card :)

Do you have an active adapter you can suggest me?

Nope. I always used those shipped with the gpu ^^
Last one was from sapphire.
I think I saw somewhere an official list of supported adapters from DisplayPort/Vesa
