Im telling you I havent had a SINGLE flicker. NOT ONE! Thanks MEAHT, (i really mean it), just one thing i want to throw in: how about people with 30" monitors? Don't these resolutions exceed the 1900x1080 res-max of the VGA adapter? @ the moment i didn't have a single flicker with my Apple adapter :cheers **EDIT** Guess maximum is 1920x1200: Technical SpecificationsWTF; just did some searching after reading "reduced blanking timing" in the HP spec.. Solutions: use reduced blanking"Display drivers are usually pretty good about selecting reduced blanking automatically when it makes sense" anyone got a clue what this means? Can Catalyst have a say in this reduced blanking? (source: http://www.playtool.com/pages/dvitrouble/dvitrouble.html#reducedblanking) |

Greetings, New forum member here. I signed up primarly to enter the discussion involving these faulty eyefinity setups. I'm running an i7-975 on an Asus P6T6 board with a Saphire Radeon 5800 series vid card (bios version 012.011.000.006 from 9/14/2009 and catalyst version 10.2). Using (3) Asus VW246 with an Accel Dp to DVI adptor (part#B0878-002B) to complete the eyefinity setup. I'm just another user who is suffering through the same blinking problem on the DP-DVI converted monitor. I get random blinking episodes throughout the day, id say on an average of 1 every 2.5 hours with the actual frequency of the episodes being completely random. Like everyone else, the problem is settled when the DP connector is removed from the back of the card and re-inserted. A couple questions that I havent been able to figure out based on multiple forum readings... Are the results worth upgrading the Sept 09 vid card bios to the updated current bios that supposedly resolves the blinking issue for some? Is it worth it to ditch this $100 Accel adaptor :( for the Apple adaptor that seems to be having more success? |

Greetings, Its just funny becaues when I put together the parts for eyefinity.. everyone told me to stay away from Apple adapter because its rubbish with eyefinity. Now apparently thats the only one that works. I made the mistake of buying the Dell, Accel Adapter. with catalyst 10.4 + the blinking becomes unbearable when I switch resolutions. As soon as the power momentarily cuts out or switches resolutions, I get about 15 to 20 blinks per minute. |

I have no flicker with using the Saphire Active Displayport adapter that sells at the Egg. I'm using the Catalyst 10.6 drivers. My center monitor is a Sony Trinitron FW-900 24" CRT, and the side monitors are V7 22" LCDs. All running 1680x1050 resolution with a display group res of 5040x1050 or when using bezel compensation its 5156x1050. I have one of the LCDs on the displayport to vga adapter, the other monitors are hooked to the dvi ports with vga adapters. I have no flicker problems. The LCDs run at 60hz and the CRT runs at 85hz, even in the eyefinity display group. I could not run resolutions higher than 1280x1024 with my CRT if it was hooked up with the DisplayPort adapter. I'm not sure why this is, but my LCD runs fine at its native res of 1680x1050, so i keep it hooked up this way. I edited my EDID on my FW-900 to match the physical screen size of my LCDs so that i could enable the Bezel compensation. (22.5" viewable on the CRT as apposed to the 22" on the LCDs). This worked great though. Is it maybe just the DisplayPort to DVI adapters that are having blinking issues? Could hooking the monitor up through the VGA port on the monitor instead if available and then using a vga to dvi adapter on the displayport adapter possibly fix the problem? |

So far, it seems that the error is related to which adapter you use and that some driver sets makes the issue less. Sapphire's active DP -> DVI adapter and HP's DP->VGA adapter seems like the best options. I hope ATI reads this and checks to see what differed in the drivers, so they can do something about those who has adapter issues. :) |

To note, i used the Saphire Active DisplayPort to VGA adapter, not DVI. |

Yeah I just purchased this at the egg... came to 30 bucks though.. add that on top of the 100+shipping and tax for active display port dvi adapter... now I am pushing 150 bucks on a stupid adapter. All I gotta say is that when this comes in on monday, it best be workin. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815310003 I am also worried that using analog is going to look blurry. |

An LCD has a fixed amount of pixels, so in native resolution, 1 pixel = 1 pixel on screen regardless if you use analog or digital. Hit autoadjust so that the H and V sync are correct. :) |

My DVI monitor connected to the display port (via an active converter) would periodically black out momentarily. This occurred with the 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5 drivers. After trying an assortment of modifications, I purchased a display port monitor. Using the new monitor, I have not had the monitor connected to the display port black out once. Obviously this is not a fix for everyone because there are 5 people in this thread’s poll that are having the random blinking with a DP monitor. It might help to post our hardware to identify patterns in what works and doesn’t work. My hardware consists of: Power Supply: Antec - TruePower Quattro 850 Mobo: MSI - DKA790GX Platinum (Bios Version 1.E) CPU: AMD - Phenom II X6 1090t Memory: G.Skill – 8 GB DDR2 Video: HIS – Radeon HD 5970 Active Display Port to DVI converter – BizLink (I don’t remember the model) USB Port for Active converter: Belkin – F5U237 (the manual states that it can handle 5V @500 mA). I have tried other >5V @500 mA USB hubs as well. Monitors: Setup A (Blinked often): Dell E228WFP 22” monitors X3 (using active converter). Setup B (Does not blink): Dell P2210 22” Monitor connected to Display Port on Video Card with two Dell E228WFP monitors connected to DVI ports. |
