Yeah, I tried to add widescreen support to AoE2 a while back by hex editing it, but I could only alter the game window; the play area itself stayed in 4:3 and the remainder of the screen was a solid bright pink. Not exactly the desired effect. If a solution is ever found, it will almost certainly come in the way of a hacked .exe and it will either stretch, or the game area will be expanded (like Red Alert 2). In that case it might be deemed a cheat in multiplayer (since you can view more of the map than normal). I hope a solution is found though. It's a wonderful game. |
