Seriously, everyone PLAY THIS GAME.

It is AMAZING. I have only been playing it for 2 hrs and already i had to stop and curl up in the fetal position with a cup of tea and all the lights on as i was freaking out. It's soooo cheap and from the guys who brought us the Penumbra series. Easily best horror game i've played in a long time. Probably since the Penumbra series themselves.

If we want to keep supporting indie devs and devs with creativity and good support for PC gamers, then GET THIS GAME!.

I don't like being scared in games... I just feel constantly anxious and am not really having fun.

I don't think you're meant to have fun in horror games.... hence no guns and invisible monsters chasing you around while you're trying to solve a puzzle = win.

Neat. There's a lack of creepy games, lately. Not the Evil Girl crap taht FEAR puls, but Silent Hill, Penumbra type stuff.

Maybe I'll heck it out. Is there a demo?

You bet there is... you can get it off Steam.

I like the game a lot, it reminds me of... Thief 3  (boat & orphanage levels mainly - the creepiest, most deserted ones). Physics-based puzzles (and door opening) really work great, as do the various FX when your character is scared sh!tless. Best nighttime gaming I've had in a long time.

Also Big Download, for the non-Steam inclined: http://www.bigdownload.com/games/amnesia-the-dark-descent/pc/amnesia-the-dark-descent-demo/

First ran it in Eyefinity and it appears to sue it properly. I like the constant and slight camera twist/zoom thing. It's a little unnerving, even in the first few seconds. But I didn;t get any audio from my rear speakers. Spooky games are even spookier with surround sound working. But then, I often can't play at night, when everyone's sleeping.. :(

I need some surround headphones.

I downloaded the demo to give it a try and I'm having the same performance issues in surround that was mentioned by others. No matter what settings I seem to choose I can't get any more than 11fps. :( Not sure what its problem is.

Runs fine for me with everything at max, except SSAO sampling is at default. But I've noticed mouse behaviour similar to Metro 2033 - when using Eyefinity, the vertical and horizontal sensitivity are quite different.

main_settings.cfg has "Engine LimitFPS="true"". Perhaps False could help you, eZ. Sadly, no independent X and Y settings for mouse. Maybe i'll try it with a controller.

An easy fix for me with Metro was to alter the DPI settings on my mouse profile to have a very low horizontal sensitivity and a very high vertical sensitivity. Most new gaming mice have this option. I set my Razer Lachesis to 2 Horizontal and 10 Vertical and it worked like a charm. You might try this with Amnesia.
