Left 4 Dead is a multiplayer first person shooter from Valve, inspired by recent "zombie apocalypse" movies such as 28 Days Later and I Am Legend. ...didn't you say we shouldn't make DRs on demos?

;)

We shouldn't make them based on betas. This is not a beta - it's based on the full version of the game. We do DRs based on demos like this all the time.

But it was really a demo, the Beta name is misleading since it got the patch for the gold game.

It's a misnomer to make you feel "special"...

But to each his own...

I think that a big thing between this demo and that beta is that we basically have access to everything that we can test in this game.

Where with WaW the only actual thing that you could test was the muiltiplayer.

Hey cranky, just one small correction. The demo is content limited, not time limited. You can only play the first 2 maps of the game (there will be 20 on release), but you can take as long as you want to finish them :).

I think he meant time limited as in the demo is removed/stops working when Left 4 Dead is released on Nov 18.

Why is 2.75:1 called Ben Hur mode? I've never heard of that term...

Really? Well, get on that Netflix queue and put THIS at the top of your list.

Ben-Hur is one of THE biggest epics in the history of film. It holds the record (tied later by Titanic and LotR:Return of the King) for most Oscar wins: 11. It was filmed in ultra-widescreen, 2.76:1, hence the moniker "Ben-Hur mode".

It's not really an official term - I just use it in my DRs so I can demonstrate that super-wide ARs work while also giving a shout-out to the widest mainstream movie I know about. Ben-Hur is so wide and so epic that it makes modern 2.35:1 action movies look like 4:3 squarescreen TV shows.
