Read Full Detailed Report - You Are Empty

You Are Empty is a first-person action game, that offers players an alternative approach to the history of USSR. In the late fifties of the XX century, leading Soviet scientists start experiments that alter human physiology and mentality in order to create super humans capable of building a bright future for communism all over the world. But tampering with the universes' toolbox is not without consequence. As a result, the experiments break free of their creators and go on a rampage throughout the city. The majority of citizens died, and in an ironic twist of Darwinian natural selection, the remaining population has survived to become hideous mutants, the only inhabitants of deserted streets. Also worth noting is This game DOES have Starforce protection since it is a Russian game.

==Method==

I'm confused by what you're saying. First you say there's no native support, but then you say "all the normal resolutions are in the game." How do you choose your ingame resolution? If you select your resolutions from an ingame menu, that qualifies as native support. Also, this game is not stretched (but if it were, you would say so in the next section, not this one).

==Screen change==

This is vert -. You should say so right before showing the screenshots. You can tell it's vert - by looking at the wall corner on the right side of the screen. In the 5:4 shot, you can see the place where the ceiling meets the wall. In the 16:10 shot, it gets cut off.

==Supported resolutions==

What about 1280x720? You were able to test this in Halo 2. Why not in this game?

==Singleplayer Anomalies==

You forgot this section.

==Multiplayer Support==

You forgot this section.

==Aspect Ratio Support==

You forgot this section.

==Cut-scenes==

Describe the behavior you observe in the FMVs just before posting the screenshots. In this case, they are stretched.

==Grading==

(waiting for you to complete the report)
BTW, notes and speculations about what engine the game uses has and/or what solutions *might* work have nothing to do with the grading process. They don't belong in this section.

==Supported resolutions==

Do me a favor. Here is a list of "important" resolutions.

1280x720
1280x768
1280x800
1440x900
1680x1050
1920x1080
1920x1200

Of these resolutions, tell me:
Which ones can you use as a desktop resolution?
Which ones can you select in Halo 2?
Which ones can you select in You Are Empty?

Tell me these things, and I'll show you how to fill out this section without having to use question marks.

==Singleplayer anomalies==

Vert - isn't an anomaly. Anomalies are flaws that are unusual and don't have sections that specifically address them. Does the game have any widescreen-related flaws of that nature? Such as stretched 2D screens, or 2D gameplay modes that get stretched?

==Aspect ratio support==

You should state that you were unable to test any 16:9 resolutions, and therefore can't complete this section.

==Cut-scenes==

This isn't anamorphic. Anamorphic means the black bars get smaller in widescreen. The black bars are just as thick in widescreen, so it isn't anamorphic. It's only stretched.

==Grading==

Calculated grade: C
Potential grade: C+

Major unresolved issues:
None

Minor unresolved issues:
(awaiting your response)

Summary of widescreen-related flaws:
Vert -
1280x720 unsupported
Stretched HUD
Stretched FMVs

Cranky's coverage estimate: 96.5%

Desktop - 1680x1050, in Vista I can also select 1280x720, 1280x800
Halo 2 - 1280x720, 1680x1050
You Are Empty - 1680x1050

Ok, here's what you do.

Your system does NOT support these resolutions:
1280x768
1440x900
1920x1080
1920x1200

Therefore, you will not be able test these resolutions in any fullscreen game. So these will go into the "Untested resolutions" list for any game you write a detailed report on.

Your system *can* support these resolutions:
1280x720
1280x800
1680x1050

Any time you do a detailed report, try to test all three of these resolutions. Whichever ones you successfully test go into the "Confirmed resolutions" list. If there are any that you can not test, try to see if you can find a way to hack them into the game, such as by looking at config files. If you cannot, put the resolutions that you couldn't run in the "Unsupported resolutions" list. But keep an eye on the thread, because somebody else might find a way to run them.

Now see if you can fill out the 'supported resolutions' section correctly. In the meantime, a grade update:

Calculated grade: C+

Major unresolved issues: None
Minor unresolved issues: None

Summary of widescreen-related flaws:
Vert -
Some unsupported resolutions
HUD stretch
Stretched FMVs

Cranky's coverage estimate: 98.5%

Thanks, but I know your thinking inside "please don't ever do another report"
