I find it pretty funny how SOH is only -vert when Ryan Elam, Director of Technology at Sigil Games was saying how it was "quite simple" to support widescreen....i guess theres widescreen and then the widescreen and i dont feel - vert is true widescreen its just a simple hack and stinks of rush support not real support for WS gamers

i can only hope they fix this in retail and provide true +horz widescreen
i was looking forward to trying this MMO but untill WS is fix they wont be getting my money...

C+. Widescreen support is pretty much identical to World of Warcraft (games that lack a singleplayer mode aren't penalized for stretched FMVs).

I still have his and Brad's email, I'm going to direct them to this topic and ask if WS support will be "corrected" at retail release, or with a patch.

Any my answer will be, "That's a shame, as that's not providing true widescreen support."

I emailed the folks at Sigil, and Ryan responded very quickly with this:

We will have widescreen support, Ibrin.

It is coming soon, it just is not in yet.

Blame slow programmers like me. =)

This is good news indeed. I'll keep logging in every few days to see if the widescreen support has been added.

And one more update:

OK should have a patch coming in the next couple days with Widescreen support. It auto-generates the field of view using the current aspect ratio... may consider this a bad thing, but it means you can't see a 4:3 "view" on a 16:9 monitor...but this also means you can run it on 4:3,
4:4, 16:9, 16:10, 43:7... whatever is coming (though 43:7 would look
really funky).


I don't think anyone wants to run 4:3 on a 16:9, when it's Hor+, so I don't see that as a draw-back.
