==Game Information==

Neverwinter Nights is a Dungeons & Dragons RPG from Bioware and Infogrames. You create your own custom hero character, and you must singlehandedly defeat an evil cult, stop a plague, and thwart an attack on the city of Neverwinter. Extremely modular design and toolkits allow you to experience and endless amount of freely downloadable adventures, both to be played alone and in multiplayer.

==Version==

This information is based on version 1.67.

==Method==

This game supports widescreen natively. Just select your resolution from the ingame menu.

==Screen change==

This game is Hor+.

1024x768

1280x800

==Supported resolutions==

Confirmed: 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200

==Singleplayer anomalies==

I could not find any anomalies related to widescreen.

==Multiplayer support==

Multiplayer is Hor+.

==Aspect ratio support==

The game automatically uses the correct aspect ratio for your resolution.

1280x720

1280x800

==HUD stretch==

This game goes beyond using a HUD; it would be more accurate to call it a GUI. The GUI scales correctly and is moveable. Naturally, having a widescreen monitor gives you more space to move it around in.

1024x768

1280x800

==Cut-scenes==

The cut-scenes are FMV. They are a fixed resolution, and using higher resolutions adds black borders all around. The highest resolution cut-scenes, such as the intro pictured below, are 800x600.

1024x768

1280x800

==Grading==

Calculated grade: B+
This would be certified if the cut-scenes scaled correctly.

Major unresolved issues:
None.

Minor unresolved issues:
None.

Summary of widescreen-related flaws:
Windowboxed cut-scenes.

Also worth mentioning is the option to increase text size for greater visibility. Very often bumping up the resolution will cause text to become smaller and less readable, and I really have to applaud Bioware for allowing users to make those adjustments. Bravo.

yes, it's called "hi-res font" which looks great.

BTW, I can confirm NWN on 1680x1050 works fine.

1440 x 900 works well (I am running with the "hi-res font" option Enabled). Running on an Acer AL1916W with Radeon X800XL. No issues.

Also, with regards to scaling the cut-scenes, I actually prefer the borders as if they scaled them, you would likely get them being stretched, which usually doesn't look right. (Just my $0.02).

With a proper renderer, you can "stretch" the image proportionally (preserving aspect ratio, you'd have borders on the side) and have it still look "right." For example, have you ever watched a DVD on your PC in fullscreen? It's the same idea.

Reinstalled this last week.

1920x1200 is supported and works great.

I've updated the game with it's latest patch and there is no widescreen option, only 800x600 and 1024x768 ... Am I missing something? Doesn't the game have native widescreen??

I know the game natively supports it, as my uncle is playing it @ 1440x900. He did not need to hack the game or anything else to get it to run properly either. Perhaps the newer patch you are using disabled these widescreen resolutions.

I have the latest patch, and the resolutions I tested still work fine.
