Ok so I have an and 6970 eyefinity setup 5-1p but was thinking of going the 3 projector route.. Didn't realise I could also have 3d as well.. Looking around it woul seem nvidia is the way to go as it seems the easier route but it is ashame to replace my 3 week old and gpu so soon. So is the 3d option for amd any good or should I just go with nvidia gt590. It will mainly be for flight sim games so 2d to 3d conversion is the most important for me at the mo.
Fsx, xplane, take on helicopters, Dcs a10/ black shark..

Nvidia 3D Surround is currently the only 3D + multi-monitor option, btw im running it and its really great, i strongly recommend it for its immersion. Cool

I believe that eyefinity + 3d is being added with the release of the 7xxx series cards, if the driver/tech will be backwards compatible to previous editon cards I am unsure at this time.

Yes at the moment only nVidia supports 3D Surround!
The GTX 590 is a very nice graphics card and works very nice for 3D Surround. But you must cool it properly as it will tend to work at 90-99% GPU utilization on both GPUs because you want to render 5760x1080 two times (in 3D). So you imagine all that horse power needs to be cooled. I suggest water cooling for it and DON'T Overvoltage it at all.
Also depends on the manufacturer and "how lucky" you get with your card. My 1st Assus card died after 8 months, but it was a manufacturing problem with the 1st card. ( The temps were higher than normal). The second one I got is still an Asus and I get 20 degrees lower temps...

Also if you want to pay more you can go for the 2xGTX580 (or even 3xGTX580) for the ultimate killer:) but you will require a motherboard with SLI (Inte chipset or the new SLI motherboards for AMD CPUs). 2xGTX590 is not needed as there also is some poor scalling on the 4th GPU.

So there are some things that you must take into consideration if you want to go to 3D.

Also there is no such "cheap" thing as 2D to 3D conversion in video games (from nVidia. DDD offers Virtual 3D or something like that which is actually a 2D-3D conversion but it sux as that is almost no 3D at all). The game is either created in 3D or not.
The 3D environment can be properly created or "less correctly" (wrong depth of some objects, usage of 2D objects in a 3D space, etc) so the experience can vary, based on the game.

Hope this helps you a little bit to better understand what you want:)
